The Michigan Department of Natural Resources has scheduled free fishing weekend for Saturday and Sunday. That’s amore! Share the family friendly love at all state parks and boating access points without the need for a recreation passport. The deal applies on inland lakes as well as Superior.
The DNR uses free fishing weekend, held twice a year, to try and introduce kids to the Michigan pastime. They even have certificates ready to help you commemorate that first catch. If you are unfamiliar with ice fishing, resources are available to help teach you the basics and explain what equipment is needed.
For Michigan Tech students who hail from outside of the state, they can take advantage of the opportunity too. All other regulations still apply.
