National Geographic’s photography, documentaries, cultural studies and articles are well known throughout the world, and many homes will have at least one copy of their magazine hidden somewhere. Their ability to capture the world has inspired many people to get outside, and explore. This weekend one such point of inspiration, National Geographic Documentary Director, Bryan Smith, known for his breakout film, 49 Megawatts, will speak at the Rozsa Center. Smith began his directorial career as an expedition kayaker, and seeing protests at a hydroelectric project in his home of British Columbia, Canada. Smith’s work with the magazine has even appeared on Nat Geo, with shows such as Alaska Wing Men, Explorer, Nat Geo Amazing, and Monster Fish. He has even worked with other outdoor and adventure companies, like the Discovery Network, Red Bull, Patagonia, Arcteryx. Smith’s presentation this weekend is one of two shows at the Rozsa Center this year, with Alize Carrere visiting in the spring.
