Dial Help has a large reach throughout the copper country. Yesterday the agency released their annual report, detailing their various projects in the community and stats on their service in the region. Dial Help served nearly 4,000 people in the Keweenaw. Picking up the phone over 2,500 times with their 24/7 phone line. Dial help began in 1971, as an addiction service for the people of Houghton. They then launched the crisis hotline across the Upper Peninsula in 1976. Four years ago dial help started the youth one stop program, which offers free counseling to kids in the copper country. Serving 175 youths last year. Dial help will continue their mission of providing crisis intervention, victim response, and youth counseling in the region.
