Career and Technical Education students gain real-world experience working with the house-build project collaboration. Last week the CCISD CTE Construction technology program’s students reached a new milestone in its house-build project, setting trusses on a new home in Houghton. The project expects to complete the structure during the 2025-26 school year. The trusses were set in place with the help of local industry representatives who have worked closely with students and instructors on the project. The representatives enhance student learning experiences by providing real-life knowledge and skill education.
The CCISD CTE construction technology program extends gratitude to Craig Palosaari of DP Construction, Robert Toumi of T-Square Construction, and David Anderson from Keweenaw Crane Services for assisting with the major project milestone. Chairperson of the Construction Technology program Steve Aho of Moyle Construction says together industry representatives, instructors, and students are not just building a future home of residence but the skills necessary to contribute as a part of the community.
