The latest COVID-19 numbers show Houghton County returning to the lows seen in late February and early March. Only Easter weekend came in below the count for Tuesday through Thursday of this week. It had 15 cases along with 11 for Baraga County and 3 for Keweenaw. Houghton County was the lowest on a per capita basis.
The great numbers come a month after the B.1.1.7, or United Kingdom, variant was confirmed in Houghton County. That particular strain was cited as the main factor for Michigan’s most recent outbreak. While the area saw an uptick in cases, COVID activity never came close to the level seen last fall.
