The Western UP Health Department shows that COVID cases fell from the previous week in the region by 12. This week around the five counties there were 328 total positive cases counted (last week there were 340 cases). Houghton County saw the largest dip in total, moving from 227 cases last week to 168 this week.
Though cases seem to have spread out from the population centers in Houghton County. With Keweenaw and Ontonagon counties both nearly doubling in case counts. Keweenaw County went from 10 to 24 cases. Ontonagon from 15 up to 27. Baraga County saw a similar trend jumping from 48 cases to 82. Gogebic County joined Houghton as one of the two counties to drop in cases.
Overall in the region COVID-19 spread continues to occur a high transmission rate. The only death recorded this week was in Keweenaw County.
