The Courtney Recreation Area in the Ottawa National Forest will close several campsites for improvements. In the past few years, MI TRALE and the Ottawa National Forest Service have worked together to make improvements to the Courtney Recreation Area in Mass City. The groups will begin work on an expansion project that will widen corrals at four of six equestrian campsites. The project also installed new corral pads. Work will occur between August 3rd and the 6th, at campsites 2,3,4 and 6. Following completion, MI Trale will install more corrals so that all six sites have one. MI TRALE works throughout the year to maintain and improve trail recreation opportunities in the western Upper Peninsula. Both groups look forward to future collaborations and projects to improve safety, comfort, and access to recreation in the Ottawa National Forest.
