The weekend of the CopperDog 150 has arrived.
Despite an up and down winter weather-wise—there is plenty of snow on the trails and the sled dogs are ready to go.
Opening ceremonies begin tonight in downtown Calumet at 6:30pm, with the first musher out of the gate at 7pm.
There are two races–the three stage CopperDog 150 and the two-stage CopperDog 80.
Restarts will take place at 8:00 Saturday morning in Eagle Harbor and 8:30 Sunday in Copper Harbor with both races finishing up in Calumet early Sunday afternoon.
There’s lots to do in Calumet Saturday afternoon with the Dog House Race and Family Fun on the Snow Road.
Now in it’s 8th year, Volunteer Director Beth Anne Riffer says it’s the volunteers who have made the race a success.
If you’re driving through the northern parts of Houghton County and Keweenaw County this weekend, be sure to keep an eye out for the volunteers at the road crossings.
