The Copper Shores Community Health Foundation supports medical students and their education journey. Recently Copper Shores announced its support for scholarships with five Michigan State University College of Human Medicine UP Campus students. These students are currently enrolled as students in their second to fourth year of medical school with assignments in the Upper Peninsula.
In the second year of the scholarship program, Copper Shores awarded tuition assistance to Kyle Burton of Sault Ste. Marie, Katrina Elzinga of Marquette, David Klemet of Oak Park, Lindsay Sandell, of Houghton, Mackenzie Suarez, of Davisburg.
The goal of the tuition assistance scholarship program promote students considering practices in the Upper Peninsula. Furthering the region’s access to top, qualified medical practitioners with ties to their local community. Cultivating a strong healthcare network leads to better care opportunities for the Upper Peninsula’s underserved communities.
The MSU College of Human Medicine UP Education Corporation works in partnership with UP Health Systems Marquette to coordinate training for medical residents and students.
