Copper Shores Provides Almost $49.5k In Grants For Recreation and Facilities.

Copper Shores Community Health Foundation has announced the 2023 recipients for the Recreation and Facilities grants. The recipients are:

  • Covington township Tow Rope Replacement received $4000 to replace the ski/tow rope on Covington Ski/Sled hill.
  • Swedetown Chalet ADA Improvements received $6,500 towards making the chalet more accessible so it meets the ADA standards. 
  • Sled Hockey program with CCISD Equipment Loans of the Keweenaw (ELK) received $18,992.42 to purchase instead of borrow hockey sleds. It will allow those of any skill level to join the sport regularly, and expand knowledge and accessibility of the sled hockey team in the Keweenaw.
  • Improvements to Gabriel Chopp Park in Ahmeek received $20,000 to allow the Ahmeek Village Volunteer Fire & Rescue Department to install paved pathways, a new pavilion, grills and more while also improving accessibility and touristic appeal.
