The Copper Country’s biggest day of giving has been planned, non-profits, picked, and now it’s time to get the community ready for Giving Tuesday 2023. The Copper Shores Community Health Foundation has announced the many local non-profit organizations taking part in the day of giving, with many returning friends, and a handful of new groups. This year residents and friends of the copper country planning to support the Day of Giving can pick between 30 different non-profit organizations including, 31 backpacks, Ahmeek Village Volunteer Fire and Rescue, Baraga County shelter home, Barbara Kettle Gundlach Shelter Home, Big Brothers Big Sisters – UP Kids, Bootjack EMS, Camp Josh, Copper Country Angel Mission, Copper Country Habitat for Humanity, Copper Country Junior Hockey Association, Copper Harbor Trails Club, Dan Schmitt Gift of Music, Friends of the Porkies, Hancock Trails Club, Keweena Family Resource Center, Keweenaw Random Acts of Kindness, Little Brother Friends of the elderly, Omega House, Ontonagon County Cancer Association, Simple Kindness for Youth, Superior Search and Rescue, Swedetown Trails Club, unite mental health.
Those returning will be joined by several new groups including Bridging Gaps Child Care, Copper Country Ski Tigers, Keweenaw ATV Club, Keweenaw Land Trust, Keweenaw Trail Services, New Power Tour, Sherman Township Fire and Rescue –Gay Fire Department. In addition to the non-profit organizations, Copper Shores will raise funds for the foundation’s own programs such as Meals on Wheels, Education and Outreach, and Bridges and Victim Services.
The Copper Shores Giving Tuesday during the past six years has helped disperse more than 2.7 million dollars in the western Upper Peninsula, thanks to more than 1.8 million dollars in donations from individuals. Over that time the Copper Shores Community Health Foundation has contributed match funds each year totaling 889 thousand dollars.
