Copper Shores Community Health Foundation Invites the Copper Country to Gabriel Chopp Park on Sunday

The first year Copper Shores met at Centennial Park in Chassell. Last year the organization invited the community to the beautiful waterfront in L’Anse. This year the group plans to travel north of their Hancock headquarters. And up to Ahmeek’s Gabriel Chopp Park for the 2024 Copper Shores Community Picnic. Communications and Donor Relations Director Michael Babcock says that each year the event continues to grow. And share more resources with the local community.

Most of them are nonprofit organizations with the idea that we want people in our community to get to know the services that they offer people. But we’ll also have some other organizations a couple of churches that will be here set up. As well as just some other service industries that are going to be here to give people a chance to know. What’s available to them and everybody who will be here is somebody who can help people that live here in Ahmeek and people in Northern Houghton County. – Michael Babcock, Communications and Donor Relations Director, Copper Shores Community Health Foundation

The Copper Shores Community Health Foundation’s hidden goal of the event is to share information with the community about various resources out there. The day often includes a lot of fun games and activities for families to enjoy a day out under the sun in the Keweenaw Peninsula.

Yeah, we’ve had a lot of fun with this event for the last two years and we’re excited this year to bring it to Ahmeek. Our first time coming up north and it should be a great spot for it. We have some wonderful food made by the Mohawk Superette as well as the Sundae in the Park. That’s going to be available for free for all the people who make it out here. We have great kids’ games. We have more than 30 non-profit vendors that will be around. So there’s a lot of activities, a lot of fun. It should bring a lot of energy here in Ahmeek on Sunday. – Michael Babcock, Communications and Donor Relations Director, Copper Shores Community Health Foundation

The Copper Shores Community Picnic in Ahmeek this Sunday will include more than 30 nonprofit organizations and community action agencies working for the people of the Upper Peninsula. During the event attendees can collect special tickets from each group they spend time with and register for several prizes given away during the day. The Copper Shores community picnic will also include a community meal with local businesses. The community picnic will begin at 12 pm on Sunday and run until 3 pm.
