Copper Shores Community Health Foundation awards funds to five small grant projects in the copper country. Recently Copper Shores Community Health Foundation announced it has awarded funds as a part of the 2024 small grant awards program totaling close to 7,800 dollars. The foundation says that the small grant awards program will help meet needs in the region by focusing on health-related events, activities, and opportunities.
Barkell Elementary School will receive under 1,800 dollars for playground improvements aimed at creating ada accessible equipment for students with mobility issues with two new handicapped swing sets.
CCISD Equipment Loans of the Keweenaw will receive 525 dollars to develop a website and brochures to help grow the organization’s presence in the community.
CLK Schools will receive close to 980 dollars to purchase new playground equipment like baseball bats, mitts, hockey nets, and basketballs for students at recess.
Canterbury House will use 2,500 dollars to streamline its food pantry access for Michigan Tech students.
A final grant award will give 2,000 dollars to the Ontonagon Artists Collective for starting a watercolor Wednesday art program geared toward seniors in the community.
