Copper Shores announces 50 organizations will join Giving Tuesday celebrations

Soon Copper Shores Community Health Foundation’s Giving Tuesday portal will start to receive donations from the community and friends of the Keweenaw Peninsula. This year the organization’s campaign that spread money across the Copper Country will support 50 organizations.

In the last two years, the day has grown in size accepting new organizations as a part of the campaign. Copper Shores says the many groups coming together highlight projects programs, volunteers, and people that get involved in their community. The 50 groups in 2024 are spread out throughout the western upper peninsula in Baraga, Houghton Keweenaw, and Ontonagon counties. In addition to all of the new friends joining Copper Shores on Giving Tuesday the foundation has plans to launch a new amplification fund.

The amplification fund takes the idea of giving Tuesday’s match portion and amplifies it through community support. After the donation portal opens in mid-November, community members unsure of which cause or organization to give to can assist the foundation grow the 200,000 dollars that is matched to each organization on Giving Tuesday. The foundation says the amplification fund hopes to encourage stronger community participation and raise a larger portion of funds for all 50 non-profit causes. Those interested in finding a list of all 50 organizations, or want to learn more about how the amplification fund will grow the community impact beyond a single donation can find more details here.
