The Copper Shores 24/7 Sexual Assault hotline is now ready to take calls from the community. Earlier this year the Copper Shores Community Health Foundation announced the start of a sexual assault hotline to replace services provided by the dial help crisis line. Phone lines went live over the weekend to serve victims of sexual assault in Baraga, Houghton, Keweenaw and Ontonagon counties for a variety of services. Copper Shores has worked out a partnership with the Michigan Coalition to End Domestic and Sexual Violence to service the phone lines. Dispatchers are specifically trained to help victims of sexual assault, with knowledge of up-to-date laws and various coping techniques. As well as the ability to connect a victim with local law enforcement and professional advocate services provided by Copper Shores Victim Support. To access the 24/7 Copper Shores Sexual Assault Hotline call 90 482 5797. Those interested in learning more about the foundation’s decision to create a new sexual assault hotline for the Copper Country can find more details here.
