City of Bessemer to Supply Drinking Water to City of Wakefield

Gogebic Range Water Authority customers are still on a water-boil advisory after water samples tested positive for E.Coli last Monday.

Starting today, the City of Bessemer will take the unprecedented action of supplying drinking water to the Gogebic Range Water authority and ultimately, the city of Wakefield.

This will be implemented in 3 parts:

  1. Ironwood Township and the western part of Bessemer Township
  2. Remaining part of Bessemer Township and part of Wakefield Township
  3. Remaining portion of Wakefield Township and the City of Wakefield

They warn residents there may be low pressure and discoloration, excluding Bessemer Township.

There cannot be an exact timeline as of yet for when the transfer will be complete, and when the water boil advisory will be lifted.
