CHS Drama Club Presents “The Great Gatsby”

There’s only one school in the Upper Peninsula that competes in the Michigan Interscholastic Forensics Association State Theater Festival—Calumet High School.

The school’s drama club will be performing a selection from The Great Gatsby at the competition in Lansing later this month.

Local residents can come out to support the team during their district performance tomorrow at the Calumet School Commons or during their regional performance at the Calumet Theatre next Saturday.

Both performances are at 2pm and are free to attend, but they do ask that you consider supporting their trip downstate.

CHS Drama Advisor Dave Heinz says just the cost of staying in the hotel will be over a $1,000, not including the cost of putting on the performance.

In addition to the two local shows, you can also support the drama club by visiting the Denali Restaurant in Lake Linden on Wednesday from 4pm to 9p,.

Ten percent of all sales will be donated to help fund the students’ trip.

They have also set up a Go Fund Me page.
