Check Out This Year’s Fall Foliage from the Portage Canal

In his first full season, Dominic Snell, cruises the portage canal showing visitors the beauty of the Copper Country in the fall. Snell, works on the Ranger III during the day, and shuttles guided historical tours during the fall foliage months, on his own boat in his off time. Growing up in the area, and working his life on boats, Snell, says that he enjoys bringing people aboard for a good time, and great views of the area.

“Well to have that 360 view, a lot of people, you know, don’t get to see what we see out here. You’ve got Houghton and Hancock one each side, And then you’ve got things you’d never see from land. So it’s a pretty unique perspective of everything.” – Dominic Snell, Captain of Copper Country Boat Tours

Snell operates Copper Country Boat Tours, with his vessel, the Dragonfly, out of Hancock. The dragonfly is an electric boat, that uses 16 six volt batteries for power. Snell describes the experience, as quiet as sailing, with the added protection from the wind with an enclosed deck. Hoping aboard the Dragonfly offers s sight of the fall color change from a different perspective.
