Chassell’s sweet tradition returns

The 73rd annual Copper Country Strawberry festival will be July 9th and 10th. Friday will see the Friends of Fashion at the Chassell Heritage Center, A children’s parade and the Queen crowning ceremony. Judy Evert and Barb Worrall will have shortcake available early in the morning.

And it’s really interesting but people are ready for strawberry shortcake at 9 o’clock in the morning. Worrall: They are, and several times during the day too.

And Michigan Tech’s research vessel will be docked in Chassell for tours Saturday.

We fill the boat and there is a sign-up sheet for whatever time you want to go out on the boat. It is really popular, the lines are long, and normally they end up having to do an extra tour, because it is so popular.

Evert says they have fielded a lot of inquiries from across the UP about the event and excitement is building. The programs have become collectibles for return patrons. They are available and can be found at locations throughout the area, including at the Houghton Community Broadcasting stations.
