At Tuesday’s Copper Country Intermediate School District Board of Education meeting, members were updated on renovations being planned for the Career and Technical Education Center’s Automotive Lab. Work will start at the end of this school year in June. The cement floor is going to be replaced and new equipment installed. Drainage will be enhanced with the new floor, thanks to planned grading. An in-ground vehicle lift is the most significant addition to the lab. The project is set to be completed by Portage Lake Construction.
Superintendent George Stockero talked about the expanding footprint of the Special Education Department. Six buildings now have a classroom dedicated to working with vulnerable students. That growth requires additional staffing. The board agreed to post for a part-time Assistant Special Education Supervisor internally.
