While the race does focus on the hundreds of runners competing in Canal Run, the event would not be possible without a community full of volunteers. UPHS Portage Community Health Coordinator Angela Luskin says that there are plenty of volunteer position still available, and duties range from tracking runner times, to working at the water stations along the route.
“We are still looking for a handful of volunteers The volunteer positions and all of the canal run information can be found on Canal.run. so www.canal.run So check it out if people have a few hours to spare on Saturday, we’d love to see you out.” – Angela Luskin, Community Health Coordinator for UPHS Portage
Volunteers play a key role in the organization and success of Canal Run each year. UPHS Portage anticipates a large number of racers, and a large crowd from the community to come out to view the race. Volunteers, of course, have the best views of the race- lining up along the canal, cheering on runners and ensuring the event runs safely.
