Camp Nesbit Promotes Life-long Learning for CCISD Students

Sharing the experience of nature with students makes Camp Nesbit in the Ottawa National Forest a special place. Last week the Copper Country Intermediate School district received an update from CCISD Camp Nesbit Director Jennifer Beaudette. The outdoor education camping program offers an opportunity each year to students with mild to moderate cognitive impairments to enjoy the outdoors, build friendships, and support independent experiences. Beaudette reported to the Intermediate School District Board of Education that students enjoyed a week full of fun activities that included chances to canoe, enjoy music and a bonfire, and a visit with State police, the U.S. Forest Service, EMS, and DNR for activities and presentations. The week-long camp promoted by the Copper Country Intermediate School District seeks to support lifelong learning. Camp staff include nurses, instructors, a life guard and Counselors with the knowledge of how to assist campers with adaptive skills.
