Calumet DDA Introduces Two New Grants to Support Large Scale Development and Small Business Growth

Calumet’s Downtown Development Authority wants to foster large-scale projects for the village’s redevelopment. The Calumet DDA announced yesterday the start of a Large Scale Projects Grants Program: Fostering Community Development. The program seeks to support larger projects in the village that will have a minimum valuation of 100,000 dollars. Grant funds awarded to project organizers will range from 5,000 to 10,000 dollars. Calumet’s DDA aims for projects that will improve the interior or exterior of buildings, make sidewalk repairs, and more. Additionally, the program will offer a rolling deadline allowing applicants to submit paperwork for funding at any time. However, the funds will be allocated annually.

Calumet will also introduce a second grant program aimed at smaller projects and to support small business growth. Alongside community developments, the Small Scale Projects Grant Program Empowering Business Growth will help support area businesses wishing to improve their exterior storefronts, install signage, or other beautification projects. The program will award grants ranging from 250 to 2,500 dollars. Grants will require a fifty percent match by the area business for the project’s total budget.

Developers and businesses interested in learning more about the Large Scale and Small Scale grants programs with the Village of Calumet should contact Village Manager Megan Haseldorn for more information. Find more information about the program here.
