Calumet Celebrates Halloween with Trunk-or-Treating on Fifth Street and More

Plenty of small towns are gearing up for a great end to a fantastic October, with Halloween just around the corner. This weekend there are a few great haunts to check out. And plenty of houses to visit for trick or treating. But in the Calumet area this weekend, kids will enjoy a little trunk or treat ahead of the 31st’s festivities.
“What we do is close off 5th street, and we invite community members and residents. You don’t have to live here at all. Everyone is welcome to come and hand out candy. So the trunk part is, a lot of people bring a vehicle and they decorate it.” Leah Polzin, Executive Director, Main Street Calumet

There’s nothing more frightening than high school; especially when goblins ghouls, ghosts, and monsters are attending class. Calumet High School’s drama club will turn the Gipp Arena in Laurium into a haunted house for Friday and Saturday nights.

“As well on Saturday, they will be doing the haunted house that they host every year at the Gipp Arena. Five dollars a person, and proceeds go to the drama club. But it’s really fun to see what they can put together.” Leah Polzin, Executive Director, Main Street Calumet

Trunk or Treating in Calumet will take place from 3-5 p.m. on 5th Street on Saturday. Those in the area can also carve a pumpkin during trunk or treating at the Calumet Theater, for the Jack o Lantern display outside of the theater. Later in the evening, the Calumet Theater will screen Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas.

The Calumet High School Drama Club haunted house at the Gipp Arena will start Friday night, and run on Saturday, from 5-9 pm. And again on Halloween night from 5-8 pm.

Pumpkin Carving with the Calumet Theater starts at 3pm, and will end at 6 pm.

Trunk or Treating on 5th Street will take place from 3 to 5 pm.

The Calumet Theater’s screening of Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas will begin at 7 pm.
