Bypass From Hancock to Dollar Bay Under Lift Bridge Closed Temporarily

Work on the Portage Lake Lift Bridge begins today, with a full closure and detour of the eastbound M-26 bypass from Hancock to Dollar Bay under the bridge.

The closure will be from today until Thursday.

The road will be open over the weekend but closes again next Monday until Thursday.

MDOT is investing 4.3 million dollars in repair work, including replacement of elevators and installing false decking under a bridge span. The false decking is the project that will close the M-26 bypass under the bridge in Hancock.
