The Ahmeek Ice Rink has nearly reached its 100,000 dollar fundraising goal for major upgrades to the community outdoor rink. As of Monday the fundraising campaign to Build the Boards has raised 78,000 dollars from the local community. The total was recently boosted by a 5,000-dollar donation by the CLK Youth Hockey Grant last month. There are multiple levels of donor sponsorship for the campaign ranging from Nickel to Copper. All donors to the campaign will have their name or business placed on a large plaque that will hang inside the Ahmeek Ice Rink facility. Copper donors will have an individualized plaque inside the facility hung up. Organizers of the Build the Board campaign hope to complete the fundraising efforts in time to have the new upgrades installed in November this year.
