UPDATE – UPPCO reports that power was restored shortly after 4:00 Monday afternoon.

Electrical power was knocked out for around 1,300 UPPCO customers from Atlantic Mine to Painesdale this morning. Company officials say the outage was caused when two utility poles on a feed line near Atlantic Mine were broken by some logging equipment. Those poles are being replaced. Power is expected to be restored no earlier than 4:00. Because of the outage, Adams Township schools released students early – South Range Elementary at 10:15, and Jeffers High School at 10:45.
