The delayed tower work on the Portage Lake Lift Bridge will proceed next week. Equipment is slated to be raised into the towers using the two inside lanes. They will be closed for the duration of the project in both directions.
When the equipment is in place, the Michigan Department of Transportation intends to swap out existing infrastructure within each tower. Overnight tests will be conducted to ensure proper operation. Between 12:15 and 5:15 on Tuesday and Thursday morning there will be periodic closures to pedestrians and motor vehicles. Each delay is expected to last between 15 and 25 minutes.
This will be the last work done on the lift bridge until March.
