Pink ribbons are a common sight around October for breast cancer awareness. On Wednesday UPHS Portage will host its Breast Cancer Awareness dinner presentation with Doctor Goodwin. Community Health Coordinator Angela Luskin says that the program welcomes everyone from the Copper Country to learn about how cancer develops and the various treatment options available for breast cancer. She adds that the presentation can help people recently diagnosed, men, and those with loved ones affected by breast cancer.
You know, a lot of people, you know, they associate breast cancer with females. And some males can, you know, get breast cancer. And Dr. Goodwin will talk about that. He’ll go over the statistics of how often men are affected by breast cancer. But then that these, you know, preventative strategies, what to look for, he’ll describe specifically, you know, how that relates to men as well. So it isn’t just for women. This presentation is open to all those who are interested in learning more information about this topic. – Angela Luskin, Community Health Coordinator, UPHS Portage
