– In Class D, Dollar Bay-Tamarack City nearly upset unbeaten, two-time defending state champion North Central, falling to the Jets 75-73. Devin Schmitz scored 40 points for the Blue Bolts.

MLB
The Detroit Tigers and the Washington Nationals played to a 3-3 tie yesterday. Justin Verlander pitched 4-2/3rds innings of shutout ball, allowing just one hit and striking out four. J.D. Martinez and Tyler Collins homered. The Tigers will face the Miami Marlins this afternoon.

Nieuwenhuis

The Milwaukee Brewers broke out the lumber, and pounded the Seattle Mariners 24-3 yesterday. The romp included a 10-run fourth inning. Keon Broxton, Orlando Arcia, Kirk Nieuwenhuis and Travis Shaw homered. Nieuwenhuis  drove in six runs. Junior Guerra gave up a run over four innings. The Brewers will face the Chicago Cubs this afternoon.
