Throughout the year, but especially during the summer, hospitals supply of blood tends to run low. Right now the Upper Peninsula Regional Blood Center says that there is a critical need for blood donations throughout the U-P. The regional blood center helps supply blood for transfusions to 13 local hospitals in the Upper Peninsula. All donations through the UP Regional blood center stay in the region, and a single donation can be used to save up to three lives. While donations are in demand so are blood donation events and sites. Locally the next donation site takes place in August, at GS Engineering on the 8th. Those interested in donation blood can find a list of donation sites linked here. Contact information for those interested in sponsoring or organizing a blood donation site can can contact the regional blood center at 906.449.1450 for more information.
