Copper Shores Community Health Foundation’s Meals on Wheels program has grown since its name change when CCSM was taken over by the foundation. Director of Communications and Donor Relations, Michael Babcock says, that the section of the foundation has received more phone calls from area residents looking to join in the meals program. He also says that they have been reached by other partners in the area that want to do more for the local area.
“Having access to that healthy local food is important. And then of course being able to expand the service areas. If we can do successful events, like Bingo Bonanza at The Bluffs, and raise more money, we might be able to add more service lines. There are a lot of people in our area that are just outside of our service area that we are serving frozen food meals to, weekly. Instead of being able to provide them with fresh meals every day. And that’s something we are looking to do moving forward.” – Michael Babcock, Director of Communications and Donor Relations, Copper Shores Community Health Foundation
The Bluffs Senior Community in Houghton reached out to the foundation recently and asked about hosting a bingo fundraiser to support the Meals on Wheels program. Anyone from the community willing to challenge the bluffs to bingo is welcome to join the bingo room tonight.
“They want to have people in their facility. They want people who live there to have another opportunity to be social, in a fun way. And of course, they love the idea of giving back. They have been outgoing, and hustling to find prizes. So you know, all of the people that come out to play are going to have a chance at just some incredible prizes from local businesses. And you know, I can’t thank them enough.” – Michael Babcock, Director of Communications and Donor Relations, Copper Shores Community Health Foundation
The Meals on Wheels program with the Copper Shores Community Health Foundation delivers meals to more than 275 per day to members of the community. Fundraisers like tonight’s bingo night hosted by the Bluffs Senior Community will help the program continue to increase the healthy locally grown food options to meals. Those interested in joining the bingo bonanza tonight must be 18 years old or older. The first number will be drawn at 6 p.m. The Bluffs is located at 1000 Bluff View Drive in Houghton.
