There’s something big coming to Sawyer International Airport next week.
One of the largest aircrafts in the world, the Antonov AN-124 Russian jet will be arriving in Marquette County on Wednesday.
This type of aircraft is used for heavy cargo and is in demand for carrying special goods.
The aircraft is coming to pick up a South Korean helicopter, which has been at Sawyer for about six months and take it back to South Korea.
The Korean Aerospace Industry along with the South Korean Army have been working with the U.S. Army for de-icing tests on military aircraft while stationed at Sawyer.
The Antonov 124 is scheduled to arrive around 11:30am Wednesday and leave Marquette at 12:30am Thursday morning.
