Bicyclist Injured in Crash with a Vehicle in Calumet

A minor was injured in a bicycle-vehicle accident in Calumet yesterday. At approximately 4:45 pm, MSP troopers responded to the scene of an bicyclist and vehicular accident at the intersection of US-41 and 6th Street. A preliminary investigation and witness statements describe that the minor was attempting to cross the highway against the light. When the bicyclist was struck by a southbound vehicle driven by a 22 year old female. The minor was transported to UPHS -Portage for treatment of injuries sustained in the accident. MSP troopers report that speed is not a factor in the crash. The incident remains under investigation. MSP troopers were assisted on scene by Laurium Village Police, Mercy EMS, Calumet Township Fire first responders and Dave’s Super Service Towing.
