The 13th Annual Copper Country Humane Society Bash was held over the weekend. The Bash was first created to celebrate the shelter and to bring people out to meet the animals up for adoption.
Shelter Manager Becki Clouthier said this is the most important fundraiser for the shelter and raises money to support care for the animals, food and upkeep of the shelter.
“The Bash is our biggest fundraiser of the year. We’re run solely on donations and our fundraisers so we can help the animals. 100 percent of the profits go toward the animals, like little Kinsie here, who is available for adoption, by the way,” said Clouthier.
President of the Copper Country Humane Society Board Roger Woods said the Bash is a great opportunity for people to support the animal shelter without the commitment of buying a cat or a dog.
The Bash featured thousands of dollars in basket raffles, a prize wheel and live and silent auctions.
“I try to encourage people to understand that it’s not about the value of the item, it’s about the value for the shelter and it’s all about the animals. It’s not that you look at it from a perspective of ‘Did I win the auction with a good value?’ but ‘Did I give enough to money to support the auction and the humane society?'” said Woods.
The Humane Society also offered free hot dogs and beverages to those who showed their support for Copper Country dogs and cats.
