Barneløpet postponed due to cold

Sunday’s Barneløpet ski race has been pushed back to February 21st. Expected high temperatures in the single digits caused race organizers, including the Sons of Norway, the Keweenaw Nordic Ski Club, and the City of Hancock to postpone from this Sunday.

With the delay, deadlines associated with the event have changed as well. Requests for cross country equipment must be made by Thursday, the 18th, now. Barneløpet is for kids ages three to 17. Easy courses measuring between one and four kilometers are offered, plus a more challenging six-kilometer race that dips into the Swedetown Gorge.

Registration forms can be found here. Please complete it and bring it with you on race day. The competition begins at 2 PM at the Maasto Hiihto Trails.
