Baraga County Shelter Home shares how domestic violence can impact businesses at upcoming Lunch and Learn in L’Anse

Baraga County Shelter Home will join the Baraga County Chamber of Commerce to host the first lunch and learn program in 2025.

Throughout the year the chamber invites various groups in the community to discuss important updates with the business leaders, explore how businesses can impact challenges or promote positive action in Baraga County, or learn about programs that can help businesses grow.

During Wednesday’s presentation, Baraga Count Shelter Home executive director Celeste Hendrickson will share how domestic violence can impact businesses in surprising ways. She says one in three Michigan families is affected by domestic violence.

Annually domestic violence costs the nation 13 billion dollars, such as lost wages, unemployment, and work site harassment. More than half of domestic violence victims report an abusive partner has harassed them while at work, and between 2003 and 2008 142 women were murdered by an abusive partner while working.

Baraga County Chamber of Commerce’s lunch and learn with the Baraga County Shelter Home will begin at 11;30 am at the Baraga County Chamber of Commerce office at 1 n main street in L’Anse
