Aspirus Ontonagon Holding Open House For New Hospital ED & Inpatient Care Unit

ONTONAGON, Mich. – Everyone is invited to a special open house at Aspirus Ontonagon Hospital from 3 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 13. Aspirus is celebrating their new, state-of-the-art emergency department and completely remodeled hospital inpatient unit for Ontonagon.

The public is invited to come see the new facility, have a healthy snack, win prizes and register to win one of three Fitbit’s being given away.

Tours will be given by Aspirus Ontonagon’s passionate care team, allowing residents to connect with the doctors and nurses who are always here to care for them. The open house is free and open to the public.

“We are really excited to celebrate these new unit renovations with the community because it’s all about bringing the highest levels of care and compassion close to home,” said Deanna Wilson, Vice President of Patient Care Services at Aspirus Ontonagon Hospital. “This is a special opportunity for the public to come see the new Emergency Department. We will have a temporary, fully-equipped emergency department for the four hours of the event. Then after that, public tours will be rare. Come see for yourself – but everyone who has seen the facility so far agrees that this is a huge plus to the health care for our community”

Aspirus Ontonagon’s 8,200 sq. ft. expansion and renovation includes highly efficient, state-of-the-art emergency care rooms; canopied entrances for easy, comfortable access by patients and EMS; and updated patient rooms, halls and nursing areas. One hundred percent of the design is focused on patient comfort, safety, privacy and efficiency.

Construction began in June of 2016, and was completed in March. Miron Construction Co., Inc. was the general contractor and HDR, Inc. was the architect. Overall, the new facility enhances and expands emergency care for Ontonagon County and the surrounding areas for generations to come.
