Today is the anniversary marking ten years since Aspirus health system of Wausau acquired the hospital from the Village of Ontonagon. Over the past decade Aspirus Ontonagon has grown in both size and in services.
Highlights include the 8,000-plus square foot emergency department expansion and inpatient unit renovation, as well as investments in new technologies including a state of the art CT scanner. Specialty care services were added such as oncology, cardiology, general surgery and diagnostic imaging.
Aspirus Ontonagon earned several national excellence awards for quality and patient satifaction and helped strengthen the local economy with 155 employees and over $6 million in annual payroll.
