Aspirus Health Recieves $52,500 from Michigan Works! for Employee Training

Michigan Works! is continuing their support of Upper Peninsula employers and employee training. Recently Aspirius Health received 52,500 dollars from Michigan Works!, going pro talent fund for helping employee training at their three locations in Gogebic, Houghton and Iron counties. The funds will be used to support the Medical Assistant Apprenticeship program and on the job training for new employees. Aspirus Health is excited to put those funds toward advancing three Asprius employees to become certified medical assistants.

57 employers in the Upper Peninsula were awarded similar going pro talent grants. 48 of whom applied as independent businesses, and nine applied for industry led collaborative. Michigan Works! has award 1.5 million dollars for employers to help employees advance their skills and training, in efforts to encourage skilled growth and talent retention within communities. Funds provided by Michigan Works!, going pro talent fund are administered by the state’s department of labor and economic opportunity. Going Pro talent applications typically open each fall.
