Apartment Fire In Downtown Houghton

A fire in downtown Houghton closed Shelden Avenue for a short while as firefighters responded to the scene.

The fire began in a 3^rd floor apartment above the Sew Irresistible store and was reported by a neighbor shortly before 2:00pm Monday.

The building was evacuated and there were no reported injuries.

Fire crews were able to put out the fire in about 20 minutes.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
