Another Houghton County man tied to capitol protests

Jeremy Ryan Sorvisto, Sr. of Hancock appeared in United States District Court last week regarding four charges against him connected to the Capitol Hill protests on January 6th. The investigation into Sorvisto began after a former classmate of his fiancé, Ashley Aho, submitted an anonymous tip to the Federal Bureau of Investigation. You can read the full affidavit provided by the United States Department of Justice here.

The tipster handed Instagram posts from Aho’s page that showed her and Sorvisto traveling by car to D.C. on January 5th. In the pictures, Sorvisto is wearing a distinctive jacket that shows up on surveillance footage from inside the Capitol Building on January 6th. He can be seen interacting with Karl Dresch of Calumet, and the pair enter a hotel lobby together later on that night in Chantilly, Virginia, where Dresch had purchased a room.

The parties were in contact via private message on social media in the weeks following their return. A copy of the criminal complaint against Sorvisto is here, including a list of the charges against him.
