Houghton Portage Township Schools has found their new replacement for Superintendent Doreen Kramer. Kramer will hold her current position until January 3rd. When Houghton Elementary Principal Anders Hill will take over in his new role of Superintendent. Hill’s interview was conducted by the board over a span of 16 questions. Ranging from Hill’s professional experience and background to how he sees the school district as it currently stands and what improvements upon an already great system can be implemented.
Hill attended Central Michigan University, before doing his student teaching in Iron Mountain High School. After that he moved onto working at McBain High School as 8th grade science teacher. Hill eventually moved up to head Menominee High School as Assistant Principal before moving back home to the Copper Country. Taking on the role of Principal at Houghton Elementary, where he has served for 9 years.
Hill worked with his staff to implement and continue already existing programs. And has practiced using data to drive education further and push students to put their best foot forward. Hill says that he wants to continue the existing culture and improve the schools climate for students and staff by putting everyone else’s needs ahead of his own.
