Just after 12:20 Monday afternoon, a call came in about an injured person on Fish Cove Road in Keweenaw County’s Grant Township. A Facebook post from Ahmeek Village Volunteer Fire and Rescue does not mention the cause of the injury and the department could not be reached for comment. Lac La Belle Fire Chief Rick Olson went in one direction on the Mandan Trail while Ahmeek personnel and Mercy EMS took the North Mandan Loop.
They were able to clear the scene by 4:11. Ahmeek says it is the first chance they have gotten to use their new ATV helmets. The equipment was purchased thanks to a grant from the Portage Health Foundation.
