A sixth man was sentenced on domestic assault charges in the U.S. district court of western Michigan as a part of the Department of Justice’s efforts to bring domestic violence offenders to justice. Recently US. Attorney for the western district of Michigan Mark Totten announced Ronald Krull of Kinross, was sentenced to 30 months in jail for assault by strangulation of an intimate partner. Krull was the sixth individual sentenced for domestic assault in the past six months after being charged in the northern division of the United States Attorney’s office for the western district of Michigan.
In the past two years, the United States Department of Justice has increased efforts to work collaboratively with tribal nations, and local law enforcement as a part of the 2022 reauthorization of the Violence Against Women Act. Individuals sentenced in the past six months were investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Keweenaw Bay Indian Police, Sault Ste. Marie Tribal Police, Hannahville Police Department, and the Marquette City Police Department.
