A Christmas for every kid in Keweenaw County

The Keweenaw County Sheriff’s Office is helping Santa out again. Now in its 23rd year, ‘No Kid Without a Christmas’ accepts monetary and some clothing and toy donations. Drop boxes will be set up at Lassila Insurance of Mohawk and the Glacia Tavern. Sheriff Curt Pennala lists some of the other locations where you can help.

Usually every year we have drop boxes at the local hospitals; Aspirus Keweenaw and Portage Health and several other area businesses. The banks and things of that nature.

Pennala says most contributions are financial in nature and his staff will then turn that into a memorable Christmas for kids who are less fortunate. When parents sign their kids up they provide a wish list for their children and Pennala says that allows his personnel to shop specific to each recipient’s wants and desires.

Families can register for the program through the sheriff’s office or the local Department of Health and Human Services branch.
