Keweenaw Bay Ojibwa Community College To Receive Tribal College Initiative Grant

EAST LANSING, Mich., Aug. 26, 2016 – The U.S. Department ofAgriculture’s (USDA) Rural Development Under Secretary Lisa Mensah has announced funding to help eight tribal colleges upgrade their infrastructure, purchase equipment and make other improvements to their educational facilities. Funding is provided through USDA’s Tribal College Initiative Grant program. Two members of the Keweenaw Bay Indian Community’s Beartown Firefighting squad were killed Saturday in a traffic crash in Minnesota. Fire In Centennial Heights Home

Fire crews responded to a house fire Friday afternoon in Centennial Heights. The call came in around noon. By about 2pm, the fire was out.  There were no injuries reported. Calumet Village, Calumet Township and Laurium Fire Departments responded to the scene.
