Finlandia University announced today the school plans to close following the spring semester. The university made the announcement this afternoon at Hirvonen Hall to a room full of students, staff and faculty. Campus will be closed tomorrow, besides essential staff. The school has also cancelled spring sports, including trips originally planned for spring break next week. President Timmothy Pinnow, did tell staff that layoffs could begin as soon as tomorrow, and asked faculty to check their emails tonight for details. The university intends to bring in partner institutions later this spring to help students and staff find new homes. If students wish to transfer credits to another institution, they will need to finish out the spring semester with Finlandia University.
