Giving Tuesday’s donation portal opens today. The special day of giving starts before December 3rd when people throughout the region connected to the Copper Country will donate to any number of 50 charitable causes. After several years Copper Shores Community Health Foundation plans to introduce the Amplification fund. Which will help make it easier for people to donate to multiple organizations at once.
So this year the Amplification Fund is replacing what we had done previously, but it’s the same thing. So every donation that comes in will be amplified. It’s just a matter of how much will be amplified will be based on how many contributions do come in. So this year if somebody takes in five percent of all the donations that come in from the nonprofits, they’ll receive five percent of the Amplification Fund. – Michael Babcock, Director of Marketing and Donor Relations, Copper Shores Community Health Foundation.
In 2024 joining the group of 50 causes are 13 new copper country non-profit organizations. The Keweenaw Family Resource Center has been a part of the Copper Shores’ Day of Giving since the start. The organization has seen the day grow, says KFRC Director Iola Brubaker, and evolve as the community has increased its participation.
On Giving Tuesday every year it just kind of brings awareness of all the different programs and services that are available that serve families from individuals from pre-birth up until the end of life. And so it’s an exciting time that you have organizations like the Keweenaw Family Resource Center which is serving pregnant individuals to the Omega House which is serving end-of-life families. – Iola Brubaker, Director, Keweenaw Family Resource Center
Donations to the Copper Shores Giving Tuesday amplification fund will add to the foundation’s starting pot of 200,000 dollars.
