Operation Copper Country Active Duty announces a new way to get involved with gifts for service members

Operation Copper Country Active Duty is ready to take off from the Keweenaw Peninsula. Recently the Auxiliary of the Alfred Erickson American Legion Post 186 in Hancock announced Operation Copper Country Active Duty 2024 will work with the Houghton High School Interact Club to support active duty servicemen and women. Copper Country Active Duty over the years has helped deliver holiday joy to local active duty military members with Christmas gifts.

The program asks the community for support to help keep the holiday tradition going and help send items like sweatshirts and hats, Upper Peninsula chocolates, snacks, playing cards, books, and stationery for letter writing to soldiers. New to the program the Auxiliary will add a raffle. Tickets purchased by the community will support Copper Country Active Duty, and help purchase gifts for servicemen and women.

Prizes in the raffle have been donated by Sayen’s Auto Sales, Keweenaw Automotive, Comfort Inn and Suites of Houghton, MTU Athletics, the Green Bay Packers, and the Detroit Red Wings. Tickets for the raffle cost five dollars. Those interested in learning more about Copper Country Active Duty 2024 and the new raffle supporting gifts for military men and women can find more information about donating to the program, raffle tickets, and more ways to get involved here.
